Transport Historic
Air

The main air links to our village are at Birmingham and Coventry Airports; both are accessible by road within 30 minutes via the M42 and the M42/M40/A45 respectively. Birmingham Airport is accessible by train through Birmingham to Birmingham International.

The websites are:-

Birmingham BHX      Coventry

There is also a bus/coach service direct to Heathrow and to other airports, picking up at Birmingham International, a direct train service from Birmingham to Stanstead and links to Manchester and East Midlands Airports

Bus Services

There are two all year round Bus Services through our Parish For Lickey the 202 /204 service provides weekday links between Bromsgrove and Halesowen, but more usefully to the local villages of Cofton Hackett, Rednal and Rubery particularly with their links to Birmingham and the medical services and shops in Rubery. You can look up the timetable or download a copy from the following site:-

Lickey Time Table

For Blackwell the 145 provides a weekday daytime service between Cotteridge (near Kings Norton Station) - Barnt Green - Blackwell - Bromsgrove, linking with bus and train services to surrounding areas. You can look up the timetable or download a copy from the following site:-

Blackwell Time Table
Some residents have been asking whether there have been any timetable changes this year. In Blackwell there have been no changes but this is not apparent on the timetable. Although the timetable is dated 2003 we are advised that it is still current.

More information is available from: WCC Traveline 0871 2002233
Also, Ludlows who run the 202 (the Lickey Service) can be contacted on 0121 559 7506

There are limited other services for our parish - the 83 a school days only service- details on :-

Schools Days Only 83 Bus Timetable

and the 982 a 'flexilink' service, which means that journeys need to be pre-booked by calling 08456 077 077 at least half an hour before you wish to travel. The good thing, about the flexilink service is that it can 'detour' from it's route (within a certain area) to pick up / drop off passengers closer to their home / destination.

Further information can be found on:-

Flexilink Service

Rail Link

Our parish has been part of the rail network since the 1830s with the famous Lickey Incline visited by rail enthusiasts from all over the world to watch steam engines, complete with vintage rolling stock climb what is reputed to be the steepest conventional rail track in the U.K.

However in the present day the two local stations within the Bromsgrove area are:-

Barnt Green

- within easy cycling / walking distance from Blackwell ( tho' most people use their cars or bus) with a half hourly service (including Sundays) to Redditch and Birmingham (from around 6 a.m. to after 11 p.m.) and very occasional morning trains to Worcester and early evening trains returning. It has a fair sized pay Car Park

Bromsgrove

This is not in Bromsgrove town centre but between the villages of Finstall and Aston Fields with regular trains to and from Droitwich, Worcester and Malvern and some trains to Cardiff and Nottingham. It has a recently enlarged pay Car Park.

The Institution of Mechanical Engineers was founded by professional engineers who met at the station. A plaque on the station commemorates this.

The best link to train timetables from both stations is:-

Other stations used by parishioners include Longbridge and Kings Norton for local trains and Birmingham International and Warwick Parkway (both within 30 mins by road) for their links to London and elsewhere.
